Selection Considerations

  1.  Any alumni must have graduated from GCISD at least ten (10) years prior to their nomination.
  2.  No current employee of GCISD is eligible for consideration as a Walk of Honor nominee until such employee has been removed from GCISD employment for a period of five (5) years. If this employee returns to GCISD employment during this wait period, then this eligibility requirement starts over after the employee’s subsequent termination(s), beginning the five (5) year wait period again.
  3. No member of the GCISD Board of Trustees will be eligible for consideration as a Walk of Honor nominee until he/she has left the Board for a period of two (2) consecutive terms. If a Trustee is reelected within this wait period, then the wait period will start over after the Trustee leaves office a subsequent time.
  4. No member of the Walk of Honor Board of Directors will be eligible for consideration as a Walk of Honor nominee until he/she has left the Board for a period of two (2) consecutive terms. If a Director returns to the Board within this wait period, then the wait period will start over after the Director leaves the Walk of Honor Board a subsequent time.
  5. Walk of Honor distinction may be made posthumously.
  6. Any individual nominee shall have lived an exemplary life.
  7. The induction ceremony will take place at the Walk of Honor annual event. Permanent recognition will be displayed at Mustang-Panther Stadium.
  8. If an individual is legitimately nominated but not selected during his or her first year of eligibility, then that nomination will carry forward for consideration for two (2) additional years (a total of 3 years of consideration). Thereafter, a new nomination form must be submitted for future consideration.
  9. The Board of Directors may select up to a maximum of two (2) new inductees per year at their sole discretion.
  10. Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has a history of over 100 years. The Board of Directors and the Selection Committee will give special consideration to this and make every effort to keep a fair and balanced approach to selections, ensuring each time span of GCISD’s history is given fair recognition in the Walk of Honor. In a similar fashion, the Selection Committee will seek to consider each of our cities and schools in a fair and balanced manner. These considerations are based on the merits of the field of nominees received in a given year.
  11. Each of the foregoing considerations are publicized in order to ensure that guidelines are in place that provide a standard approach to the selection process year to year. However, it should be noted that future changes may be deemed appropriate by the Walk of Honor Board to facilitate an orderly, fair and representative process as future experiences may require.
