
Joe Deupree
After growing up in Oklahoma and attending Oklahoma A&M University, Joe M. Deupree served in the Navy before moving to Colleyville with his wife, Jane, in 1966. He still lives in the home he built for his family on Montclair Drive. He worked for the FAA from 1958 – 1985 and served as a consultant for the FAA in Washington DC from 1985 – 1997. Upon moving to Colleyville, Joe immediately became involved in the community and the schools. He served as Chairman of the Colleyville Planning and Zoning Commission, was a member of the Advisory Council for Community Education, and was a long time Lion’s Club member. He was active as a deacon and teacher in his church, and in 2007, was voted Citizen of the Year by the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce. Regarding GCISD, Joe was active in the Colleyville PTA and served as President in the late sixties. He was elected to the Grapevine School Board in 1975, and was integral in changing the name of the school district to Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District to include his beloved community. He served on the GCISD School Board until 1984, and served as President during his third term. Joe has always stressed the importance of education to his family and friends and continues to be active in his community, where he has considered it a privilege and a blessing to live and serve for over 50 years.
